How to actually cancel Netflix (and what they don't tell you)

Netflix’s cancellation flow is mercifully short — under a minute if you know where to click. But there are three things they bury in fine print that surprise people.

The path

1. Go to netflix.com/youraccount.
2. Scroll to Membership & Billing → Cancel Membership.
3. Confirm. Yes, really cancel.
4. You’ll get an email. Save it — it’s your proof of cancellation date.

What they don’t tell you

• You keep watching until the end of your billing period. Cancellation doesn’t refund the month you’re in. If you just paid on the 3rd, watch until the 2nd next month.
• Your profiles, history, and ratings are kept for 10 months. If you resubscribe within that window, everything comes back. After 10 months, it’s gone.
• There’s no email retention loop — Netflix is one of the few that doesn’t spam you for 90 days after you leave. Respect.
